Mint Teas


Chocolate Mint Tea

Chocolate goes well with tea, not just coffee. You can brew up this recipe is a jiffy, using instant hot chocolate powder and bags of mint tea.

  • 6 mint tea bags
  • 6 cups milk
  • 6 tbs hot chocolate mix

In a saucepan, heat milk with tea bags until almost boiling. Steep for a couple of minutes and strain out tea bags. Pour our 6 mugs of milk, then stir in a tablespoon of chocolate powder in each mug.
Serves 6

Moroccan Mint Tea

Mint tea is the national drink of Morocco, although tea introduced there as recently as the 1850s, brought from the Far East by British merchants. Added to the mixture is fresh mint and sugar. When serving the tea small glasses are used.

  • 2 cups loosely packed fresh mint leaves plus mint sprigs for garnish
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons gunpowder green tea (available at specialty tea shops)
  • 6 cups boiling water

In a teapot combine mint leaves, sugar, and tea and add boiling water. Let tea steep 5 to 10 minutes. Strain tea trough a fine sieve into teacups and garnish with mint sprigs.
Recipe makes about six cups Moroccan Mint Tea.
